Both Bali and Langkawi are defined by their jungles. But they are different jungles entirely. Bali's jungle is sacred, threaded with temples, rice terraces, and a culture that has been in continuous conversation with the natural world for thousands of years. Langkawi's jungle is ancient in a different way: primordial, untouched, and home to species that have barely changed since the Miocene epoch. Four nights in one, three in the other, half board at both, and some of the finest wildlife and spa experiences in Southeast Asia in between.

Four Seasons Sayan sits above the Ayung River gorge in Ubud, built around a two-storey lotus pond that has become one of the most photographed structures in Bali. The Datai Langkawi sits at the end of a forest road on the northwest coast of Langkawi, where 10-million-year-old rainforest meets one of the most beautiful private bays in Malaysia. Together they make a journey that rewards travelers who want to go deeper than beaches and pools.

1

Arrival in Ubud

Fly into Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali (DPS). Private transfer to Four Seasons Sayan in Ubud, approximately 1 hour 15 minutes through the centre of the island. Check in above the Ayung River. The arrival sequence at Sayan is deliberate: guests cross a lotus pond on a walkway before descending to their suite. Dinner at Ayung Terrace, the resort's signature restaurant overlooking the river gorge.

2

Ubud and the Sacred Sites

Morning visit to Tirta Empul, the sacred water temple where Balinese Hindus come to purify themselves in the spring water. Walk the Campuhan Ridge, a quiet trail through rice paddies on the edge of Ubud town with views of the jungle on both sides. Afternoon in Ubud's galleries and market. Evening at Locavore, consistently one of the best restaurants in Asia, a 10-minute drive from the resort.

3

Rice Terraces and Ayung River

Morning visit to Tegallalang Rice Terraces, the most dramatic and photogenic in Bali. White water rafting on the Ayung River directly below the resort, the river that the hotel looks down upon from above. Afternoon at the Four Seasons Spa, one of the finest in Southeast Asia. Dinner at the resort.

4

Monkey Forest and Final Morning

Early morning walk to the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, quietest before 9am. Visit to Pura Besakih, the Mother Temple of Bali, on the southern slopes of Mount Agung. Return to the resort for final lunch. Transfer to Ngurah Rai Airport for the evening flight to Kuala Lumpur.

Day 4 Transfer: Bali to Langkawi
Fly Bali (DPS) to Kuala Lumpur (KUL), approximately 2 hours 30 minutes direct. Connect to Langkawi (LGK), approximately 1 hour. Private car from Langkawi Airport to The Datai, 15 minutes. Total travel approximately 5 to 6 hours door to door.

Arrival at The Datai

Arrive at The Datai Langkawi in the early evening. The resort road winds through dense rainforest for several minutes before the property appears, setting the tone immediately. Sleep to the sound of the forest.

6

Rainforest and Datai Bay

Dawn nature walk with The Datai's resident naturalist. The early morning forest is the best time for wildlife sightings: dusky leaf monkeys, white-bellied sea eagles, hornbills, and if you are fortunate, the rare flying lemur. Morning at Datai Bay, one of the most sheltered and beautiful private beaches in Malaysia, protected within a UNESCO Geopark. Afternoon at The Spa, set in a two-storey treehouse deep in the forest. Dinner at The Dining Room.

7

Final Day and Departure

Final morning swim in your private pool as the jungle wakes up around you. Last breakfast at the resort. Optional kayaking on Datai Bay or a final guided walk. Transfer to Langkawi Airport for the flight to Kuala Lumpur and onward connections.
