Maldives Superyacht
and Liveaboard Charters

The Maldives has 26 atolls. A fixed resort lets you explore one. A private charter lets you move through all of them on your own schedule.

The Liveaboard Advantage

What a fixed resort cannot give you.

A fixed resort, however exceptional, is anchored to its atoll. The dive sites it can reach are limited by the speedboat range from the jetty. The atolls accessible in a day are the same every day. The marine life visible depends on what happens to pass through that particular lagoon during your stay.

A liveaboard removes all of these constraints. The vessel wakes each morning in a different position. The dive sites accessed are chosen based on current conditions, marine life reports, and the specific preferences of your group. Atolls that are completely inaccessible as day trips from any fixed resort become a standard part of the itinerary.

For serious divers, this is not a marginal advantage. The dive sites in the southern atolls, Addu, Huvadhu, Laamu, are among the finest in the Maldives and are effectively unreachable without a liveaboard. A seven-night charter covering the full north-to-south range of the archipelago produces a dive log that no fixed-resort trip can replicate.

Featured Vessel

Ritrella, the Maldives' premier luxury cruise hotel.

Ritrella is not a traditional liveaboard. It is a purpose-built luxury cruise hotel that operates exclusively in the Maldives. The distinction is meaningful. Where a conventional liveaboard prioritises dive capacity in a compact vessel, Ritrella prioritises the quality of the on-board experience at every point of the day, the cabins, the deck spaces, the dining, and the dive operation are all built to a level that reflects an ultra-luxury hotel rather than a working dive boat.

The vessel accommodates up to 22 guests in private ensuite cabin accommodation for overnight charters. For day events and corporate programmes, deck capacity extends to 50 guests. Full-vessel exclusive charter only, Ritrella does not operate shared charters. The itinerary is designed entirely around the group's priorities.

Dive Highlights

What a Maldives charter reaches that no fixed resort can

North Atolls

Thaa and Laamu

Six Senses Laamu is the only fixed resort in Laamu Atoll. A liveaboard has the entire atoll available and is not constrained by the resort's day-trip range.

Southern Atolls

Huvadhu and Addu

The southernmost atolls are among the most pristine in the Maldives. The combination of low visitor traffic and exceptional coral health produces dive conditions that are difficult to find elsewhere.

Central Atolls

Ari and Felidhe

South Ari Atoll is one of the best locations in the world for whale shark encounters year-round. The Felidhe channel produces strong drift dives and regular pelagic sightings.

Common Questions

Frequently asked

Yes. Ritrella is a luxury floating hotel, not a dive boat with cabins. Non-diving guests snorkel, relax on deck, visit sandbanks, and explore the atolls fully. The vessel's itinerary can be designed to balance diving time with exploration activities that work for the full group, including mixed groups where some guests dive and others do not.

All experience levels from beginner to expert are catered for. Ritrella's dive operation includes PADI-qualified instructors who can run intro dives for first-timers and certified beginner courses. Experienced divers can access more demanding sites and conditions. The dive briefings and site selection are adapted to the experience levels present on the charter.

Yes. Unlike most fixed-resort transfers that originate from Male, Ritrella can be positioned to collect guests from any atoll in the Maldives. For groups arriving on international flights, departure from Male is standard. For groups joining mid-charter or arriving via a different route, the boarding point is arranged during pre-charter planning.

The Maldives has two seasons with different dive conditions. The dry season from December to April offers excellent visibility across the northern and central atolls. The wet season from May to November brings stronger currents and different marine life patterns, with whale shark encounters peaking in South Ari Atoll and manta aggregations in Baa Atoll. Both seasons produce excellent diving; the optimal season depends on which species and which atolls the group prioritises.
