Charter in Saudi waters is regulated by the Saudi Red Sea Authority (SRSA), which began issuing the Kingdom's first-ever yacht chartering licences in December 2024 and had issued eight by the end of the first quarter of 2026. That small number is the point: the coastline is vast and the licensed fleet is young, so itineraries feel genuinely private in a way the Mediterranean has not felt for decades.

What does a Red Sea charter itinerary look like?
Most charters embark at Jeddah or, in the north, along the NEOM coast. From Jeddah the classic route runs north toward Umluj, often called the Maldives of Saudi for its scattered white islands, and on to the Al Wajh lagoon, a protected expanse of reef and sandbank larger than some countries. Northern itineraries centre on Sindalah, the new island marina that opened the Red Sea's superyacht gateway.

When is the best season for the Red Sea?
October to May is the charter season. Winter months bring air temperatures in the mid twenties Celsius with warm, clear water, which is precisely when the Mediterranean is closed. That inversion matters for Gulf travellers: the Red Sea gives you a world-class charter in the months when Europe cannot.
