Clock Tower Hotels in Ramadan: Prices & When to Book

Ramadan rates at Makkah Clock Tower hotels run roughly 3–5 times higher than regular Umrah season, peaking during the last 10 nights, and top rooms sell out 6–12 months in advance. This guide covers what to expect on pricing, when to book, and how to secure the room you want.

How much do Clock Tower hotels cost during Ramadan?

Ramadan pricing at Clock Tower hotels is structured in tiers. The exact figures change each year, but the pattern is consistent and worth understanding before you start requesting quotes.

PeriodRelative Price LevelAvailabilityBooking Window
First 10 days of RamadanHigh (2–3× regular season)Good if booked early4–6 months ahead
Middle 10 days of RamadanHigh (2–3× regular season)Moderate4–8 months ahead
Last 10 nights of RamadanVery high (3–5× regular season)Extremely limited6–12 months ahead
Full Ramadan stay (27–30 nights)Often discounted vs per-nightLimited — hotels prefer full stays8–12 months ahead

The last 10 nights command the highest premiums because they include Laylat al-Qadr (the Night of Power), which many Muslims believe falls on one of the odd-numbered nights in this period. Demand from pilgrims worldwide concentrates into this window, and the Clock Tower's proximity to the Haram makes it the most sought-after location in Makkah.

Within each period, the price also varies by hotel (Fairmont and Raffles command the highest rates; Al Marwa Rayhaan the lowest within the complex), room category (Full Kaaba View rooms carry the steepest Ramadan premium), and floor level.

When is Ramadan 2027?

Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin around 18 February 2027 and end around 19 March 2027, depending on moon sighting. The last 10 nights would fall approximately 10–19 March 2027. These dates are approximate — the Islamic calendar is lunar, and the exact start and end are confirmed by moon sighting shortly before. For booking purposes, plan around these dates and confirm closer to the time.

When should I book for Ramadan?

The short answer: as early as possible. The practical answer depends on what you are looking for.

6–12 months ahead is ideal for the last 10 nights, Full Kaaba View rooms, Fairmont Gold, or Raffles suites. These are the first rooms to sell out.

4–6 months ahead usually secures good availability for the first and middle periods of Ramadan, and for city-view or Haram-view rooms across all hotels.

Less than 3 months ahead — availability becomes very limited and prices increase as Ramadan approaches. You may still find rooms at Al Marwa Rayhaan or Mövenpick, but choice narrows significantly.

Early booking also has a pricing advantage. Many hotels and allocations offer earlier rates that increase as Ramadan approaches and demand intensifies. Booking early is not just about availability — it is often cheaper too.

Is iftar included during Ramadan?

Not automatically. This is one of the most common misconceptions. Iftar is only included with Half Board or Full Board bookings. A standard breakfast-only (B&B) rate does not include iftar. During Ramadan, we strongly recommend booking at least Half Board — it typically covers suhoor and iftar, which saves the difficulty of finding meals during fasting hours when most restaurants outside the hotels are closed until Maghrib.

How to save on Ramadan stays

If budget matters but you want the Clock Tower location during Ramadan, these strategies help:

  • Book the first 10 days instead of the last 10 nights. Rates are meaningfully lower and the Haram is less crowded — your worship experience may actually be calmer.
  • Choose Al Marwa Rayhaan or Mövenpick. These are the most accessible hotels within the complex. You still get covered Haram access; you trade view and room finish for a significantly lower rate.
  • Book a city-view room. The view premium during Ramadan is extreme. A city-view room at the Fairmont can be substantially cheaper than a Haram-view room, while the location advantage — metres from the Haram — is identical.
  • Book early. Rates tend to increase as Ramadan approaches. Six months out is almost always cheaper than two months out for the same room.
  • Consider a full Ramadan stay. Some allocations offer discounted per-night rates for 27–30-night bookings covering the entire month.

Ideally 6–12 months in advance. The best rooms — Full Kaaba View at the Fairmont, suites at Raffles — sell out first. For the last 10 nights, booking 8–12 months ahead is strongly recommended. Early booking also secures better rates, as prices tend to increase as Ramadan approaches.

Not automatically. Iftar is only included with Half Board or Full Board bookings. Breakfast-only rates do not include iftar. During Ramadan, upgrading to Half Board is recommended — it typically includes suhoor and iftar, saving you the difficulty of finding meals during fasting hours.
