Makkah Clock Royal Tower, A Fairmont Hotel

The Fairmont occupies the central tower of Abraj Al Bait — the tower with the clock face itself — making it the closest hotel to the Kaaba. It is the only Clock Tower hotel positioned directly above the main Haram entrance. With 1,662 rooms across 76 floors, it offers the widest range of Full Kaaba View rooms in the complex. Fairmont Gold provides a private hotel-within-a-hotel experience: separate entrance, private elevators, butler service, and an exclusive lounge with Haram views.

Best for: pilgrims who want direct Kaaba views and the shortest walk to the Haram.

Raffles Makkah Palace

Raffles is the most luxurious option in the Clock Tower — all suites, all butler service. Every room is a suite with a separate living area. This is the choice for pilgrims who want an ultra-premium experience alongside their worship, and for those travelling with elderly parents who need space and attentive service.

Best for: ultra-luxury, all-suite accommodation with butler service.

Swissôtel Al Maqam and Swissôtel Makkah

These are two separate hotels often confused with each other. Both are mid-premium 5-star properties, but they occupy different towers with different room layouts and different Haram-access paths. If you have been quoted one without clarification, you may end up in the wrong building. Our Swissôtel disambiguation guide explains the differences and which to choose.

Best for: mid-premium stays at a lower price than Fairmont or Raffles.

Pullman ZamZam Makkah

Pullman ZamZam is the family pick inside the Clock Tower. It offers the most flexible room configurations for groups, connecting rooms for larger families, and a Kids Club — a rarity in Makkah. It sits in one of the towers closest to the Haram and offers covered access via the complex's walkways. Rates tend to be more accessible than the Fairmont for comparable room sizes.

Best for: families with children, groups, and pilgrims wanting Clock Tower quality at a more accessible price point.

Mövenpick Hajar Tower

Mövenpick occupies the Hajar Tower and offers solid 5-star accommodation at a mid-range price within the complex. Rooms are well-maintained, and the hotel is known for its dining options. It sits slightly further from the main Haram entrance than the Fairmont or Pullman, but still connects via covered walkways. A good option for pilgrims who want the Clock Tower location without the premium-tier price.

Best for: solid mid-range accommodation inside the complex.

Al Marwa Rayhaan by Rotana

Al Marwa Rayhaan is the most accessible hotel in the Clock Tower by price. It delivers clean, reliable accommodation within the complex at rates below its neighbours. Views are more limited than the central towers, but the location advantage — still inside Abraj Al Bait, still connected to the Haram via covered walkways — remains. If your priority is being inside the Clock Tower rather than having a specific view, this is where your budget goes furthest.

Best for: value-conscious pilgrims who want the Clock Tower location without the premium price.

How to Choose: Which Clock Tower Hotel Is Right for You?

Choose the Fairmont if a Full Kaaba View room is your top priority, or if you want the shortest possible walk to the Haram entrance. It is the closest hotel to the Kaaba and offers the widest selection of view categories.

Choose Raffles if you want ultra-luxury, all-suite accommodation with butler service — particularly if you are travelling with elderly parents who need space, quiet, and attentive service.

Choose Pullman ZamZam if you are travelling as a family or a group and need flexible room configurations, connecting rooms, or a Kids Club. It offers the best family value in the complex.

Choose Swissôtel (either property) if you want a reliable mid-premium stay at a lower price than Fairmont or Raffles, and views are not your primary concern.

Choose Al Marwa Rayhaan if you want the Clock Tower location — covered access, proximity to the Haram — at the most accessible price in the complex.

Understanding Room Views: Kaaba View vs Haram View

This is the single most important thing to understand before booking a Clock Tower hotel. Not all "Haram View" rooms show the Kaaba. Many rooms labelled "Haram View" face the mosque building but have no direct sight of the Kaaba itself. Only rooms sold as "Full Kaaba View" guarantee a direct view of the Kaaba. The price difference can be substantial, but so is the experience. Read our full Kaaba View vs Haram View guide to understand what each category means and how to verify your view before you pay.

When to Book and What to Expect on Pricing

Clock Tower hotel rates are heavily seasonal. Regular Umrah-season rates are the most accessible. Ramadan rates run roughly 3–5 times higher, peaking during the last 10 nights. Hajj season commands the highest premiums. For Ramadan, book 6–12 months in advance. For regular Umrah season, 4–6 weeks ahead usually secures good availability. Read our detailed Ramadan booking guide and cheapest months guide for more.

Hotel-Only Booking vs Full Umrah Packages

You can book Clock Tower hotels either as hotel-only (if you hold your own Umrah visa and flights) or as part of a full package including visa support, flights, and transfers. Our packages page explains both options and helps you decide which suits your situation. We also offer packages tailored to pilgrims from the UK, USA, UAE & GCC, India, and Malaysia & Singapore.
