Umrah from Southeast Asia

Umrah from Malaysia & Singapore

For pilgrims from Malaysia and Singapore, a ten to fourteen night trip pairing a Makkah Clock Tower (Abraj Al Bait) stay with several nights in Madinah makes the best use of a long flight. We book the Clock Tower hotel with or without the rest of the trip, including the complex's premium suites, with the room and view category confirmed in writing before you pay.

Trip structures from Southeast Asia

The flight from Kuala Lumpur or Singapore is long enough to shape the whole trip. These are the structures we book most often, and the longer ones consistently deliver more of the journey than the shorter ones do.

Flights from Malaysia and Singapore

Both Kuala Lumpur and Singapore connect to Jeddah and Madinah, directly on some services and through Gulf or South Asian hubs on others. Frequencies and routings shift by season, so confirm current schedules when you fix your dates.

If your routing allows, flying into one holy city and out of the other removes a backtrack and can save a full day. Tell us which way round you are planning and we will structure the Makkah nights around it. We do not require you to book flights with us; many Southeast Asian pilgrims travel with a group operator handling flights and visa, and take only the Makkah hotel from us.

Visa and Nusuk for Malaysian and Singaporean passport holders

Nusuk is Saudi Arabia's official digital platform for Umrah. It is used to apply for the Umrah eVisa, to obtain permits for performing Umrah and for visiting the Rawdah in Madinah, and to hold approved bookings. Requirements have changed more than once in recent years, including the linking of accommodation to visa applications and seasonal suspensions around the Hajj period.

For that reason we do not publish a fixed checklist that could be out of date by the time you read it. Verify the current requirements on the official platform at nusuk.sa and on Saudi Arabia's official travel guidance at visitsaudi.com before booking non-refundable flights. The elements that have been consistent are a passport with sufficient remaining validity, a digital photograph, meningococcal vaccination, and confirmed accommodation.

On the mahram question: Saudi visa rules no longer require a woman to travel with a mahram in order to obtain an Umrah visa or enter the Kingdom. Individual operators may still apply their own conditions, and religious opinion varies, so confirm with your operator and, if it matters to you, with a scholar you trust.

The premium end of the Clock Tower

Southeast Asian itineraries tend to be longer, and on a stay of ten nights or more the quality of the room matters far more than it does on a weekend trip. Two properties are worth knowing about.

Raffles Makkah Palace is the only all-suite hotel in the complex. Every accommodation has a separate living area and butler service is included, which changes the rhythm of a long stay: family members can rest at different times, and check-in does not involve queuing in a crowded lobby.

The Makkah Clock Royal Tower, A Fairmont Hotel holds the deepest inventory of Full Kaaba View rooms in the complex and sits closest to the main Haram entrance. If praying in sight of the Kaaba from your room is part of what you are paying for, this is the building, and our Kaaba View vs Haram View guide explains how to verify the category properly before you pay.

Our complete hotels guide compares all seven properties, including the more accessibly priced options in the same complex.

Planning around Ramadan from Southeast Asia

Malaysian and Singaporean demand for Ramadan is strong, and the constraint is usually the flight rather than the hotel. Both need to be secured early: six to twelve months for Ramadan generally, and the earliest possible booking for the last ten nights. Our Ramadan booking guide covers what to expect and when to commit.

Frequently Asked Questions for Malaysian and Singaporean Pilgrims

Ten to fourteen nights is the sensible range from Southeast Asia. The flight is long enough that a shorter trip loses too much of itself to travel, and a longer stay allows a settled pace across both Makkah and Madinah.

Kuala Lumpur and Singapore both connect to Jeddah and Madinah, directly on some services and via Gulf or South Asian hubs on others. Routings and frequencies vary by season, so check current schedules when you fix your dates.

Malaysian and Singaporean pilgrims apply for the Umrah eVisa or an eligible Saudi tourist eVisa through Saudi Arabia's official Nusuk platform. Requirements are updated periodically, so verify the current process on nusuk.sa before booking non-refundable travel.

Yes. Raffles Makkah Palace is the only all-suite hotel in the Clock Tower complex, with butler service included, and the Fairmont holds the deepest Full Kaaba View inventory. For longer Southeast Asian itineraries these are the two properties we most often recommend.

No. All food served in Makkah is halal, so the usual travel concern does not apply here. What does matter is the meal plan on your booking, particularly in Ramadan when iftar is only included with half board or full board.

Either. Many Southeast Asian pilgrims travel with a group operator handling visa and flights and take only the Makkah hotel from us, which we quote with no booking fees. If you would rather have the hotel, transfers and Madinah leg arranged together, we can do that too.

Earlier than most, because the flights are the constraint. For regular season, allow two to three months to secure both flights and the room category you want. For Ramadan, six to twelve months, and the last ten nights need the earliest booking of all.
