The case for September
The sea spends all summer warming and peaks as the crowds leave. September gives August's water with June's harbours: moorings without contest, restaurants without waits, and rate cards already easing toward shoulder levels. Families bound to school terms cannot use it, which is exactly why everyone else should.
Region shifts the calendar
The Ionian and Aegean run reliably warm from June; Turkey's Turquoise Coast stretches pleasantly into late October; the French and Italian Rivieras peak socially in July and August and reward June and September for space.
